LOOK AT THIS! This is the complete movie on Vimeo…
Wild Style is a 1983 hip hop film produced by Charlie Ahearn. Released theatrically in 1983 by First Run Features and later re-released for home video by Rhino Home Video, it is regarded as the first hip hop motion picture. The film featured seminal figures within the given period, such as Fab Five Freddy, Lee Quinones, Lady Pink, the Rock Steady Crew, The Cold Crush Brothers, Queen Lisa Lee of Zulu Nation, and Grandmaster Flash. The protagonist “Zoro” is played by New York graffiti artist “Lee” George Quinones.

Today I found a message from Kofi Stacks in my FB-inbox. He asked me to check out his video and so (of course) I did.
The video is quit okay (the coldest actor alive!
), but I was far more impressed by their edgy, jazzy, raw sound… I took a look on his Soundcloud-page, listened to a few songs and then decided: Whenever they’ll perform in Amsterdam, I’ll be there… Curious how they are on stage!
Although personally it’s not really my cup of tea, I still believe it’s worth to check out their website and listen to some tunes: KOFI STACKS & THE MANDEM.

“Beats Rhymes & Life: The Travels of a Tribe Called Quest” was a great hiphop-documentary, but now I’m looking forward to this one… Look at the ‘cast’! Already curious what Common, DJ Premier, KRS-One, Nas and Q-Tip have to say!
